We went back just recently and tried some different items on the menu...the Roost burger, the sweet potato fries, tacos and ice cream. Loved the burger, fries and ice cream. My husband had the tacos and he said he's had better. It is hard to compete with tacos. They looked good to me - had cilantro and onion, but the flavor may not have been great. We also got to talk with one of the owners. It always helps you feel like a part of something when you get to meet the person in charge and see that they really care about their business and their customer's satisfaction. We like this place and will definitely be back to try more. :)

This is the first time I was there., The cheese burgers are really good. They are a little thin but good. Then I ordered the sweet potato fries they come with a carmel apple sause. I thought this was strange at first but this was awesome! IT was like thanksgiving in a syrup.. I would go back. They have a huge menu. Sunday hotdogs are 99 cents

99 cent hot dogs on Sunday, awesome deep fried stuff, never disappointing. The roost burger looks really good. I'm going to try that next! They have unique menu items like catfish, deep fried Oreos, Mac n cheese bites, apple rings, roost sauce for beefs, burgers, and pork sandwiches

99¢ hot dogs on Sunday's?! Sign me up! This little restaurant has yummy food if you're looking for something quick to chow down on. I usually get the Roost Pork which I think is delish. It's pork on an Italian bun with this sauce that is my absolutely favorite part. The sauce has a spicy taste to it which will awaken your taste buds! Also their Chicago style hot dogs are good. Only reason I give it 4 out of 5 is because I don't know how the rest of the food is because I mainly get the Roost Pork. But for being a decently small place, they have many, many options! So eat away!

I've been going here for a couple years now. Their signature sandwich the "roost beef" is a triumph among sandwiches. Simple yet complex with flavors that dance in your mouth. Let's not forget the super friendly staff. It's a hot dog spot with so much more.

Love this place and have been trying to make it a regular stop on Sundays for .99 hot dogs. Dogs are good and the selection of fried deserts are awesome! Never tried fried Oreo's till I went here and have ordered them many times since. Love this place!

I usually like the roost beef but yesterday was bad. Too salty and way overcooked ....and salty, salty. Inedible. Doubly shocked with the fries, which are normally pretty good. Needs more consistency.

This diner has the best and largest deep fried mushrooms in the area! The batter is light and tasty...the.mushrooms are large and very delicious. One could make a meal of rhem alone. The only minor draw back is the container that the dipping sauce comes in. This doesnt detract from a 5 star rating however.

The Roost Beef is phenomenal & the .99 Vienna Chicago Style dogs on Sundays are a great deal! It's you're typical Chicagoland hot dog stand with some twists. I've had nothing but good experiences & will continue to stop by. Try the Roost Beef if you haven't it's worth the visit for that, I like it with sweet peppers & cheese!

Average, traditional Americana (hot dogs, burgers, gyros, etc) however the sweet potato fries with the honey-cinnamon dipping sauce rocked my world. I'm a sucker for sweet things and this was fantastic. I've never been to a place that offered this kind of dipping sauce. I loved it. The staff here are very nice, providing the local car community a no hassle zone to show off their cars.

Roost 59 is a small, family owned restaurant. The owners are extremely friendly and the food is always good. The location is really nice and has a cool ambiance. Prices are really reasonable and they give you a lot for what you pay. They have the typical items (hot dogs, burgers, italian beef) and also some special items (like the "roosts") that set them apart from other quick service places like them.

  • James B.

I think their menu has everything. The roost pork is fantastic and the place is clean and sober. (no bar / beer) My wife liked their gyros. Great experience for a cheap lunch / dinner.

Have had burgers, hot dogs, and Italian sausage All were good, at very reasonable prices They have a very extensive menu, and helpful/friendly staff

The first rule - order ahead. They don't start your chicken til you place your order, so it's going to be a wait. But, overall, it's worth the wait. Our "bucket" was really good. The breast was a touch dry, but the dark meat was amazing. The sweet potato fries were just okay, they were breaded, which made them a little mushy by the time we got them home. Next time I get a craving for fried chicken, these are my go-to guys.

Very Surprised! Excellent food. My boyfriend and I had the roost pork, roost beef, sweet potato fries, and apple rings. The flavors are great, the roost pork had a buffalo-like sauce and the roost beef reminded me of bulgogi (korean beef). The sweet potato fries were different from other ones that i've had. They were sweet yet savory and the sauce that comes with the sweet potato fries is an excellent pair. The apple rings were a great end to our great meal. Roost 59 is in the middle of nowhere, but if you happen to be in the area definitely stop by and grab some yumminess~

We ate here last week for dinner, my husband and I both had the Roost Beef sandwich. Interesting, but good, I was expecting some kind of sliced italian beef type of sandwich. It was kind of a fancy marinated burger on a bun with sauce and a whole lot of butter? Half way through my sandwich I noticed what I think was butter, not sure if it was supposed to be there or not but it was good anyways LOL. The fried mac and cheese wedges were amazing! We will be trying the fried chicken and the deep fried snickers which I have never tried anything like that fried before. Nice place firendly service good food, will be back someday for that chicken =)

WOW! This is truly a diamond in the middle of boofoo aka bumble aka the rough. Great place to grab a bite if you are in the area. Summary: Eat the Roost Beef or Roost Pork (Asian inspired I think), Eat the Sweet Potato Fries, Eat the Apple Rings. Great favor, made to order. I was so surprised at how amazing the favors are. When I walking in, they look like any hot dog and fries shop. I ordered the Roost Pork and my girlfriend ordered the Roost Beef. I was expecting like a regular italian beef, and like an italian pork. HOLY WOWZER THESE SANDWICHES ROCK!!! Though they may not admit it, but these sandwiches definitely had a asian influence. The Roost Beef tasted like a bulgogi mixed with italian beef on a french roll and for $1 more my girlfriend got the sweet potato fries. I have had sweet potato fries before, but never thicker cut like this and with a great sweet sauce. The Roost Pork has this semi-buffalo/asian red sauce that was a favor explosion in my mouth. We also ordered another thing they are known for, Apple Rings, call me USHER cause OMG! Its fuji apples that are fried and covered in powdered sugar. You would think this would be too sweet, but I was so surprised of how not so sweet it was which made it easy to eat many... :) The biscuits are different and they are a mix between biscuit and cornbread, really good when hot!!! Finally, I wanted to talk about the chicken. Eventhough I didnt eat it, the brand was Krispy Krunchy Chicken, I am aware of one in Schaumburg, and I had Chicken there before. It is dry, but it tastes good cause its a fresh chicken (halal) vs. the normal frozen stuff. Not the best I ever had, but still good. The owner said they are currently working on unbranding with Krispy Krunchy cause they are being wack with francise costs. I will have to go back and try that when they fully unbrand. Other deal: $1 hot dogs on Sundays

Wow, some of the best fried chicken I've ever had. This place is in the middle of nowhere, but boy am I glad I found it. The menu here is all over the place, but in a good way. They were especially proud of their beef sandwich and their pork sandwich, both of which sounded great. I was there for one thing and one thing only though, their fried chicken. It was, for lack of a more creative description, perfect. On the side were the mashed potatoes and gravy, great tatoes but the gravy was a little too... brown? The honey biscuits were great, and very addictive. I had mixed feelings about the potato salad, but overall it was good. The sweet potato fries were great, and the fried apple slices are a reason to go here in themselves. I will definitely be making a return trip to Roost 59.

The clear winner on this menu is the apple rings. Deep fried apple awesomeness. Do not miss them. I had the roost pork, which was decent, though a bit messy. My friends had the Catfish, I think, and said that it "tasted like lake." I don't know what catfish is supposed to taste like and I didn't try any, but they weren't fans. I believe we also got an order of sweet potato fries and they were quite good. We ate right outside the door, at a picnic table, which was nice, except for the crazy vending machine right inside the door, which beckoned for someone to feed it money every 30 seconds or so.

Unfortunately I had a bad experience. I ordered a polish sausage that was soooooo charred and wrinkled, it was so unappetizing to look at that I didn't end up eating it. I literally said when I saw it "looks like one of those gas station wieners that has been cooking all day long". Yuck, I'm so sad!

Have been to Roost 59 previously for Hot Dogs (99 cents on Sunday is great & affordable) but tonight we had a taste for Broasted Chicken - thought of them immediately (the last time we were there we talked about trying it) First of all let me say what I was impressed with at first was being able to order "a la carte" by what piece you want - we like "legs/drumsticks", so I could order six legs..and got the three piece dinner in addition for two breasts and a wing. Got the sweet potato fries and onion rings as sides. Was happy with the legs..have to say the breasts were a "bit" dry...but overall a "9" in our opinion for broasted chicken. I wish they had their menu "online" so I hadn't had to wait 20 minutes - but maybe they'll step up that part of their website quickly (hint hint). Oh yes, I thought that the prices were good - especially being able to order exactly what pieces we wanted. Good Choice - Go for it!

I really wanted to give a good review, they are very nice, and that counts alot in these times,but.....I checked this place out because of the great reviews and all I could think was...really, this is the best fried chicken you have eaten? My fried chicken was dry, overcooked, and just not all that great. I tried the roost pork and roost beef, nothing special there. The honey biscuits were different, not bad. Apple rings and tempura mushrooms, pretty good. I might have gotten them on a bad night. I'll try again.

Well, I didn't see any laundry or dry cleaning there. I did have some of the BEST fried chicken I've ever had in my life, and what I consider the best in the area. I am also fond of the Roost Beef sandwich, the Italian beef, and the hot dogs. Prices are reasonable, the other food is fabulous (try the apple rings), the place is CLEAN, and the staff is cheerful and helpful. If you have to wait, read one of the many books up front, watch TV or view the bulletin board.

I stopped by there for lunch, and the food was good. Not great, but good enough for me to write a good review. I had the cheeseburger, and it was done just right. Fry's were average. Next time will try their signature dish, and hopefully a better review. The order was made fresh and pretty speedy. The environment was clean and welcoming. Great place for after sports get-togethers, for both young and adult.

I'd give 2.5 stars if I could...as it really came down to price and friendliness. I asked the twentysomething girl working the register what was going on with the Roost special sandwiches (Beef or Pork). She proceeded to point to a taped to the counter sign that had the details and then rapid fire with disinterest read them. Rude doesn't cover that. So I decided to get the Italian Beef deal #7. I was asked how wet I wanted it and if I wanted it sweet or hot. Seriously...for $7.75 for sandwich, small drink, and small fry you gotta charge me the $.40 for the teaspoon serving of typical gardeneria? The bun was toasted so that was nice contrast to the wet on the bottom. Beef was decent, Fries were ok. The fries would have been better but there were only two ketchup bottles and they were on tables with people at them and I thought it would be kinda rude to ask to use their bottle. But price ($8:15 w/o tax) and service brought this down to where I've had better. Washrooms were surprisingly clean given the lack of attention to detail on friendliness and condiments. They claim to be best food on Rt. 59....must be because there are few places to eat on that road in the area. Disappointing...

No idea why there are so many positive reviews unless most are from the owner and/or employees! It's just nowhere near good. I've decided to review after my second horrible experience. The first was just an Italian sandwich ordered. Extremely watery where the bread was so soggy you couldn't even eat. It wasn't even traditional Italian beef. It tasted like plain beef (no au ju juice/sauce) in soggy bread. Now onto my experience tonight after deciding to give it another try... this time I ordered the "Roost Pork" that seemed to be popular among the reviews. It was by far one of the most disgusting sandwiches I've ever ordered. It looked like crumbled dog food but tasted like crumbled soy product in greese. So much greese it was a puddle on the wrapper. However the meat didn't even look like meat but more so overcooked crumbles of who knows what. Last but not least, I thought for sure the sweet potato fries were going to be one thing that they got right (again, after reading the reviews) but couldn't be far from the truth. They were RAW!!! I'm talking, like if you sliced a sweet potato up, dipped it in batter, dropped it in a deep fryer and pulled out pretty fast. It didn't have time to cook. It was hard and tasted like fresh cut raw potato. Yikes!! Going to try and figure out how to add pics of this dog food..

The food was great, the staff was exceptionally friendly. There's a TON of fried food here so check your healthy-hipster-habits at the door (I had to). It really hit the spot for our family of 6 looking for comfort food. We introduced the kids to corn-fritters and they were gone in no time. My wife said the sweet potato fries were amazing. Took the Roost Pork to go for lunch the next day, which also was good. I winced a little bit at the total bill & nickel/dime of the toppings after we ordered them. 5 cents for this 7 cents for that. The cashier did a great job of suggesting stuff and so we kept saying yes, so there's no one to blame but us. Overal great experience. and would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a casual Chicago-style eatery. Watch the toppings.
